Job Hiring – How To Sneak In The Back Door
While thousands of people are checking the daily want ads and classified ads online searching for a job hiring, you can go along with the flow or try something a bit different. This is the “get in the backdoor technique” and it works amazingly well. All you need to do is think creatively to get yourself both noticed and appreciated.
You see, for every job listed you there may be hundreds or even thousands of people sending in their resumes. Your odds are decreased for landing that job just based on the sheer volume of resumes that will be sent in. While it is certainly a good idea to send in yours as well, you should be working on another system to help you find a job quickly.
Is Your Former Abusive Boss Going to Give You a Bad Reference? Here’s How to Fix It
How to sneak in
One of the things that has worked for many people is to hand deliver a resume to a company that is not advertising a position. Simply walk in and present yourself. The idea here is to create a wonderful impression with anyone you see in the building. If you only get to see the receptionist, so be it. Make her remember you in a positive way. While this isn’t really sneaking in, it is a way of looking for a job that most people would just brush aside.
Try to get more
Once you have introduced yourself, let it be known that you are looking for employment and would like to have a few minutes with the person in charge of hiring. It’s quite a bold question and one that most people won’t attempt. Why? Because many people have bought into the system of sending out a resume by mail to answer an ad for a job hiring, instead of thinking outside of the box.
Sometimes you will hit upon a business that needs someone right away but has not yet had a chance to put up an ad. If you present yourself right, you may just walk out the door with a job. It has been done before. The worst that can happen is you are given a no and you leave.
Karma is your friend when it comes to job hunting. You give out enough resumes and talk to enough people and something good is sure to happen. The key is to persist. You’ll most likely end up with a job in half the time it would have taken if you had done it the standard methodical way. There is really something to be said about being proactive when you are searching for a job.
